First of all congratulations is magnificent. From percchio time, since I’m looking for a lover of the boat hull particularly like her to buy. I would like to know if it’s for sale and possibly the price. It is difficult to use? I’m Italian, if I may leave the mail contact. Happy new year and thanks Umberto BELCREDI
@michael930turbo Well, it’s 6 gallons a minute per engine (only if it’s running wide open) and at the cost of fuel today, I tend to keep it running around 100 MPH and if I do take it up faster, I’m not staying in it for more than a few minutes or else my tanks will become empty as well as my wallet!
We got the Arneson drives installed last summer, putting a new set of Herring prop’s on the drives in a few weeks after doing some testing last year, I will send you some photos if your still around on youtube?
We were cruising under 100, not sure exactly since I was not driving, my friend was. Running up the river is a blast. We make it from Windsor to the sandbar in about 6 minutes, Topock is a great run, I love going to breakfast in Topock at that place on the left next to the 40 Fwy. Find me on the sandbar this summer, I am there nearly every weekend through June then we take off for Lake Shasta CA during the month of July with the boat.
I had a boat but it was stolen three years ago. Go to yachtforumsdotcom then to the forum technical discussion. Scroll down to the thread “trimarans and the Bladerunner” go to page four posts 56-57. That’s my red boat. My name there is catmando.
They were redoing Merc and other brands for their race customers but now they make their own. They have lots of experience. Matt and Julie Croce are the owners. Google for their phone number or look on the boating sites for their ads.
The only boat I’ve seen three turbines installed in is the Wallypower 118′ superyacht. I think they’re almost 6000hp apiece. There’s a vid on here of it running. It also has two small Cummins diesels and jet drives for docking. The diesels also power the yacht’s systems while at the dock and at anchor.
I know you’re in Cali but give Throttle Up props a call and see what they can come up with. They’re in St. Pete Fl.
You’re almost there and I know you’re excited about splashing it!!
Engines, transmissions and drives are installed as of a few days ago. Just had 1 last exhaust pipe customization to complete & we should be picking the boat up in a few days. Now we need $10,000 worth of props to complete it after we pay the bill for the conversion to the Arnesons.
Rik told me that turbines were not that expensive. I think I remember him saying they could be had for under 6 figures each + the drive & rigging for it of course. 3 smaller turbines in your 44′ cat would have that boat probably going faster than it should be going. Ya, I am envisioning 180 MPH… man, that’s fast. If the boat was to come apart at 180 your done.
I was thinking of twins but one big one like that 4500hp one that Arneson uses would be enough for the big Magic. Think of the maintenance and weight savings.
I don’t know what it cost to buy it and rig it but the turbine alone was probably over $1M. Then there’s all the systems on it such as exhaust, electrical, transmission etc that have to be addressed. Don’t forget that turbines were not designed to be used in the Marine environment.
The turbines are the way to go if one can afford them. I hear they run for ever, no problems what so ever & you can blow fire for the crowds. If your 44 footer had triple turbines (actually you would only need 1 turbine to power that boat, not 3) yes it would be a 140MPH, actually it would be more like a 180 MPH boat. Arneson’s 44 or 46 foot boat is powered by 1 turbine & he’s faster than 160. I have seen the boat run in the bay area my self, all you see from the rear is white water roost
Well weight is good in the ocean when you’re running in rough seas. On a lake not so much. But think about the 44 at 12,000lbs with 1450hp turbines. That would be at least a 140mph boat. That’s way fast enough for an open cockpit boat.
Last time i was in havasu the 44′ and 34′ cat molds were the ONLY thing left sitting at the magic factory. I bet Ron would let them go cheap since the bank had no interest in the molds. As far as I know they are still sitting up there baking in the sun. I agree, 15,000 Lbs on that 44 was insane weight, way too heavy for a boat, but that thing did run nice and man it has a ton of space, seating like 12 people outside, a few bedrooms inside, lots of space….lots.
Regarding the 44, there is no excuse for building that size cat that weighs 14,000lbs. The 44MTI with full cabin only weighs 10,500lbs. If I had the molds I would put the Magic 44 on a diet of Kevlar, carbon fiber and vacuum infusion.
I might not get it to MTI’s weight but I bet at least 2000lbs of flab could be cut out. Dam I sound like a Hollywood Lipo surgeon lol.
Deck boat nah I’m an Offshore guy. Your 34 hull would suit me just fine though with a closed deck and your tricked-out cabin, except I would want a vacuum-bagged hull and the lightest cabin materials I could find.
Dart has come out with a 765ci block. I would talk to Alexi Sahagian and see what he would charge to get the most n/a hp from that block. I like the old school look of the Kinser EFI stacks don’t you? Alexi does killer computer programs too.
Long Beach Yahat sales has all of Magic’s inventory, if you want a 28 deck boat, go find them and you can get one real cheap, no power, no drives, hull and trailer only, hull is rigged and ready to go, just add power & drives. Were going with the Rollas but I am going to buy them used. At 6 to 7 thousand dollars each prop ($14,000 total for rollas) I want to go used or go merc. I am going to buy a 28′ Magic deck boat from LB Yacht sales this winter for a spare boat due to the low price.
Yes, Rik did recommend and sell us the ASD6 with conversion kit for the bravo. He says he’s got these running in 1500+ HP applications and our 1000′s will be fine, even if we come out of the water with the props fully loaded, they will not break. My installer shop whom profited zero on the sale of the drives says I cannot break them with my twin 1000′s, he’s sure of this. Yes, they can take a merc # 6 prop since the shaft is the same large diameter that the number six drive uses.
sounds like it throws a prop blade at the end!
Wow! I love the sound that thing makes.

That was just fucking awesome!! Felt like I was in the boat!! Crazy though–12 gallons a minute…5 minutes at WOT= $200!!
Cool. We will be there the weekend of the May 22-23. I cant wait to check out Pirate cove. When I was there last year it was not open yet.
I was. Check your gmail, there in there now.
If you’re talking to me partcent I’m here send the pics.

NIce Boat. How fast were you going in the Video?
I love running up river to Topock.
Going in May, can’t wait

Thanks for that info I will do.
Do you have any photos of your 44′ cat?
Are you located in FL or AZ or where are you at?

I was just in Florida for 10 days, got back this past Sunday. What brand props does throttle up have? New or used or??

I understand his boat runs 180+.
